From Haze to Blue Skies: TPH Brings Kuching Together

KUCHING, 26 September 2026 – More than 1,600 people came together at Tunku Putra-HELP School (TPH) on Saturday for its Family Day, bringing together TPH families, prospective families, alumni, staff, students and members of the wider Kuching community for a day of activities, performances, food, games and campus experiences.

Held at the TPH campus at Northbank, the event invited families to experience life at TPH beyond the classroom, with hands-on learning activities, family-friendly entertainment, food and merchandise vendors, as well as campus tours led by TPH staff and student ambassadors.

For TPH’s newly appointed Executive Principal, Mr Harry Roberts, the event was also a chance to connect with more members of the school and the wider Kuching community following his arrival earlier this month.

“It was a great day for TPH, especially as the haze had finally dropped below 100 and we were able to see the blue sky again. It was wonderful to see everyone come together. Personally, it was also my first time experiencing the school in this way and getting to know Kuching’s warm culture since joining,” said Mr Roberts.

“I have really enjoyed meeting TPH families and getting to know Kuching. We have already had two Coffee Chat Sessions with TPH parents within this week, and I am looking forward to meeting many more in the months ahead.”

Mr Roberts also highlighted the school’s state-of-the-art campus as one of its strengths and said he was keen for more people in Kuching to discover what TPH has to offer. “There is a lot happening here, both inside and outside the classroom, and we have so much to share.”

For parents and students, the day offered a welcome break after a period of hazy weather in Kuching, while giving families a chance to explore the campus and enjoy time together.

“It was lovely to be out with the family especially after the recent haze and it was nice to see children playing outdoors while getting to know more about what happens around the school,” said Voon, a TPH parent.

For TPH students, Family Day was also an opportunity to take on a different role as hosts and ambassadors for their school.

“I really like showing visitors around our campus. We get to spend so much time here as students, so it was nice to share our favourite places and activities with them,” said Elizabeth, a TPH student.

The Family Day comes at a time of outstanding academic performance for TPH. In 2025, the school recorded its best-ever SPM results with a Grade Point Average (GPS) of 2.34, a leading performance among schools in Kuching. At IGCSE level, 51% of grades awarded in 2025 were A*–A, and 95% of grades awarded in language subjects in 2026 were A*-A, all-time high for the school. TPH also recorded its strongest A Level results this year, with offers received from top universities like the National University of Singapore etc.

These results reflect TPH’s continued academic progress and strengthen its position among Kuching’s top-performing schools, further establishing it as a school of choice for parents seeking a well-rounded education for their children.

The Family Day brought TPH’s growing community of families and supporters together, while giving visitors the chance to experience the school’s campus, students and learning environment first-hand.
